Vote on November 6th

Voting matters. In a true democracy, where all voices are heard and represented, all people must exercise their right to vote. This is just as important in midterm elections as presidential elections. Your elected federal and state officials influence your everyday life and the policies that hit closest to home.

Voting is not just a political act; it's a personal one, too. November 6 is your opportunity to be heard, to keep elected officials accountable for their decisions, and to have a say in important issues that affect your community. The decisions voters make in this election will affect the environment, education, immigration, and health care access. You can use your vote and your voice to lift up the issues that matter to you and your community. Make sure you're prepared: find your polling place and pledge to vote!

Open Enrollment begins Nov. 1

The sixth Open Enrollment Period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) runs from November 1 through December 15th. The Affordable Care Act guarantees consumers will not be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions. All ACA plans include essential health benefits, including free preventative care, doctors visits, and prescription coverage. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify, and the majority of those who enroll on the Marketplace qualify for free or reduced-cost plans.

Planned Parenthood Announces "Care for All" Campaign

There's no way to sugarcoat it. With Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, we will likely see the further erosion – and perhaps complete reversal – of Roe v. Wade in the very near future. Right now, there are 13 abortion cases just one step away from the Supreme Court, including one from Missouri.

Planned Parenthood is not going to let this become a country where people can no longer access abortion. We have a plan: Care for All. We have been working on "Care for All" since Trump and Pence took office, and with the confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh, we are kicking our plan into high gear. Planned Parenthood will never stop fighting for patients and every person's right to access safe, legal abortion. We will never back down – and today, we are fighting for all our rights and freedoms.

Planned Parenthood looks to the leadership and members of the National Network of Abortion Funds and other partner groups for the logistical support and strategy needed to ensure that everyone has access to the abortions they need. After all, they have been providing funding, transportation, and other coordinated supports to people seeking abortion for 35 years. Due to the face that Abortion Funds have never received the prominence they deserve in the national conversation about abortion access, Planned Parenthood believes any conversation about the future of access to abortion in this country must include the critical role of abortion funds.

Recap: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Mizzou stand with survivors

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Mizzou, a student group at the University of Missouri, brought more than 100 supporters together for a rally and student walk-out October 5th.

Working with coalition partners, the students gathered staff, faculty, and community members to oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court and stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

Recap: Healthy Neighborhood Canvass

Student interns from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) on Oct. 27 joined Sharell Collins, lead certified application counselor, for another Healthy Neighborhood Canvass in St. Louis' 18th Ward. The 18th Ward is near Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri's Central West End Health Center, and includes the neighborhoods of Fountain Park, Midtown, Kingshighway East, and JeffVanderLou.

Going door to door, students shared information about Planned Parenthood's health care services and health insurance enrollment assistance. Students also gathered information from community members about health care disparities.

The students, studying in SIUE's School of Public Health, chose Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri as their community partner for their senior project. They will present their findings about 18th Ward health care disparities to their professors during the 2019 spring semester.
