In January 2023, anti-abortion state senators voted on 3 constitutional amendments that infringe on Pennsylvanians rights, including SB 1, an amendment that would give the General Assembly authority over state department regulations. This would give the General Assembly far reaching authority over the departments of labor, energy and health leaving the entire state government subject to partisan political whims. 

Specific to Planned Parenthood’s work, we know that this amendment would be used to change the regulatory conditions that allow us to provide abortion care. Telemedicine access could be attacked. The legislature could reject changes to clinic regulations that would bring state policy up to date and in line with the needs of patients. We must ACT NOW to stop abortion restrictions from being enshrined in our state constitution.
