Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska (PPAN) is an independent nonprofit, nonpartisan organization managed by its Board of Directors and Executive Director.

PPAN works to educate and empower the electorate regarding issues of sexual and reproductive health and related rights of Nebraskans. As the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood North Central States in Nebraska, our 501(c)(4) organization mobilizes supporters of all parties to protect, promote, and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care and fact-based, medically accurate sexuality education, and we support social justice partners across intersecting issues such as immigration and voting rights. We do our work in the community, under the dome, and at the ballot box.

Our Values

Planned Parenthood is a public health organization.  At the core, Planned Parenthood, and PPAN specifically, believes everyone deserves to live in a world where all people are equally protected and have the resources they need to be healthy and thrive, and understands these abilities—or lack thereof—are issues of public health.  More specifically, PPAN believes:

  • All people have a right to high-quality, nonjudgmental, affordable health care, including the full range of sexual and reproductive health care. All people have a right to seek care where they want, including at Planned Parenthood health centers, and should be able to access care regardless of where they live, who they love, their income or their immigration status.
  • Access to family planning improves people's lives. People with uteruses spend approximately 30 years of their lives navigating their fertility; Nebraskans deserve affordable birth control and access to information to decide if, when, and how they will become parents.
  • Education is the foundation of a healthy community. Nebraska’s young people deserve medically accurate, inclusive, evidences-informed sexual health education that empowers decision-making and healthy relationships.
  • Abortion must remain safe, legal, and accessible. Nebraskans facing a pregnancy must have access to safe, legal abortion services—without government interference. That care should be covered by insurance—public or private—just as any other health care service would be.  People should not be denied access because of where they live; telehealth delivery of medication abortion should be made legal in Nebraska.
  • Efforts to protect and expand access to the ballot box, democracy reform, LGBTQ+ equity, and safety for black and brown communities—regardless of immigration status—are top priorities. PPAN shows up and supports issues impacting gender equity, families, and oppression and work to partner with social justice organizations to learn more and do better.
