On Saturday, May 6th, 10 of our most involved Planned Parenthood activists in Albuquerque got together for a day long training on how to become volunteer leaders. These activists worked with Public Affairs staff to gain the tools needed to fight against the on going attacks against Planned Parenthood, and made commitments to help us protect access to reproductive health care in our community. Some of our participants shared their experiences from the training:

"I learned that it starts with one person who is willing to go out and work for change."

-Leah V.

"Sometimes it can feel like there are a lot of issues to be dealt with, and that can feel really overwhelming. This training is giving me tools to look at these issues straight on and say, 'Okay, this is what I can do! I can take these steps to make a difference toward this.' And not only is it motivational, but it's exciting to be actually doing something instead of just sitting around wondering what I can do to help."

-Lex O.

"My favorite part about today was being able to be around people like me who care because it helps show me that in our community there are good people who want to make a difference."

-Ava J.

This was the first of many trainings Public Affairs staff will hold across the state of NM to train Planned Parenthood activists. Stay tuned for information on upcoming trainings!
