Planned Parenthood Votes New Mexico Statement on the Senate Rule Change and Neil Gorsuch

Albuquerque, NM - Today the U.S. Senate Republicans voted to change to the Senate rules and move forward on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. The following statement is attributable to Sarah Taylor-Nanista, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Votes New Mexico:
"Make no mistake; Neil Gorsuch will not be a friend to equal rights of all communities as a Supreme Court Justice. His record clearly demonstrates that. He has prioritized corporations’ “beliefs” over individual women’s health, and he has taken actions to eliminate public funding for a reproductive health care provider millions of people trust. .
"Moving his nomination forward jeopardizes the rights of millions of people, and puts women’s lives at risk. Once again, the U.S. Senate placed political gains over the lives of the individual, this includes their access to comprehensive reproductive health care."
