It was a busy week at the legislature, with lots of important bills moving!
SB 2340, the bill that codifies ACA protections in state law, was heard by the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection and Health (“CCH”) committee and was passed unanimously with no testimony in opposition! It now heads to the Ways and Means committee. HB 2126, the House companion bill, will be heard next week by the House Health and Human Services (“HHS”) Committee.
SB 2351, a bill promoting equal pay by prohibiting prospective employers from requesting or considering a job applicant's wage or salary history as part of an employment application, was passed unanimously by CCH.
HB 2139, a bill that creates a state version of Title IX to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation in educational programs and activities receiving state funds, was passed unanimously by the House Labor Committee. Its companion, SB 2353, was heard by the Senate Education committee.
