How to Vote This Year

In 2020, here's what you need to know about how to vote in Alaska:

  • You can request an absentee ballot and vote by mail 
  • Alaska law allows voters to cast an absentee ballot for any reason
  • Only voters over 65 years old will be automatically mailed an application for a mail-in ballot

Important Dates

October 4

Deadline to register to vote or update registration.

October 19

Absentee in person voting begins.

October 24

Deadline for absentee ballot application to be received by mail.

November 2

Deadline for absentee application to be received online (5:00 p.m. Alaska Time).

November 3

Election Day!

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Alaska Time.

Mail-in-ballots must be postmarked by Election Day.

Deadline for absentee ballots by fax or online to be received (8:00 p.m. Alaska Time).
