Chapter president Adam Croasmun describes his involvement with Planned Parenthood and passion for advocacy.
My entire life has consisted of so much passion for so many things, but when I reached adulthood, my passions began leaning to the political side. In January 2018, I was blessed to meet Emily Thompson, Field Organizer for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic WV. When I said to her: “Could I start a student organization on campus?” she immediately lit up and we quickly became friends.
Emily has helped me so much with this organization at West Liberty University and I am so grateful. I am so thrilled to begin fighting back against the anti-women’s health administration and bringing more medically-accurate and nonjudgmental information to the community and state that I love so much.
Right now, in West Virginia, access to birth control is under attack. WLU Planned Parenthood Generation Action plans to hand out information on access to contraceptive services, combat sexual assault on campus, and to promote pro-choice advocacy across our community. Now is the time to fight, and I am so ready to begin working on behalf of fellow progressives and believers in the rights for women at my university. Never be afraid to make your voice heard and to fight for all. Our motto will be the same as what Planned Parenthood so beautifully says: “Care. No matter what.”
