WASHINGTON, DC — Ahead of this weekend’s Virginia Republican Convention, Planned Parenthood Action Fund launched a series of Web ads today highlighting Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli’s terrible record and agenda for women’s health. The Action Fund is the political and advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and, with partners in Virginia, has been leading the charge to educate voters about what’s at stake for women’s health in advance of the November election.
In the ads, Ken Cuccinelli pops up in places where no politician belongs, including the doctor’s office and the bedroom. In one ad, the female narrator warns voters that Cuccinelli is “trying to put himself in the middle of our most personal decisions.” The ads will run through the Virginia Republican Convention in Richmond this weekend and target Virginia women.

On Saturday, the Action Fund and its partners in Virginia will rally at the Virginia Republican Convention in Richmond, where Pillamina, the Action Fund’s human-sized birth control pill pack (you may remember her from her days trailing Mitt Romney on the campaign trail) will join supporters and volunteers to amplify the message that Ken Cuccinelli is wrong for women’s health and wrong for Virginia. The groups are also running organizational meetings across the state to recruit and train supporters to volunteer for the Keep Ken Out campaign. “Keeping Ken Cuccinelli out of the Virginia governor’s mansion is one of our top priorities,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Building on our successful 2012 electoral work in Virginia, we plan to educate thousands of voters about Ken Cuccinelli’s dangerous agenda for women’s health and economic security. Already, we’ve launched KeepKenOut.org, and are continuing to look at other ways to engage Planned Parenthood supporters in the state.”
Cuccinelli, the first attorney general in the country to file a lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act, supports letting employers decide whether a woman has access to affordable birth control; introduced an amendment to cut women off from Planned Parenthood’s preventive health services in Virginia; is opposed to safe and legal abortion even in cases of rape or incest; supported targeted restrictions of abortion providers (TRAP) designed as a backdoor ban to eliminate access to safe and legal abortion in Virginia; and is a leading advocate for extreme and dangerous so-called “personhood” efforts that, if enacted, could interfere with personal, private, medical decisions relating to birth control, access to fertility treatment, management of a miscarriage, and access to safe and legal abortion.

He’s trying to put himself in the middle of our most personal decisions.
He sponsored legislation to end funding for Planned Parenthood, and Ken Cuccinelli wants to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman’s health is in danger.
To keep Ken out of your doctor’s office, keep him out of the governor's mansion.
