New York, NY – Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement today of Congressman Gary Peters (D-14) for U.S. Senate in Michigan. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

“Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Gary Peters in his bid for U.S. Senate,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Throughout his career, Congressman Peters has been a strong advocate and champion for women’s health. He has fought to ensure that women have access to safe, legal abortion, and he has been a strong voice against dangerous legislation that would require women to pay more for special insurance to cover abortions. It’s clearer than ever that Michigan voters need to send allies like Congressman Peters to the Senate to stand up for women’s access to health care.”

“Congressman Gary Peters has been a longtime friend of Planned Parenthood Advocates and overall fighter for women,” said Lori Lamerand, President of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan. “When Michigan became one of the eight states to ban insurance coverage for abortion – even in cases of sexual assault – Congressman Peters committed to fighting against such dangerous legislation and the continued attacks against women and families. Congressman Peters does not believe women should have to pay more for health care coverage. We stand with Planned Parenthood Action Fund in support of Congressman Peters for U.S. Senate, a strong champion for Michigan women.”
