Statement from Erica Sackin, Planned Parenthood Action Fund spokesperson:

Let's be clear: women's health is central to the progressive movement. Planned Parenthood is a nonpartisan organization. We will hold any political party, any candidate for public office, and any elected official accountable for not standing up for reproductive rights.

“Reproductive rights, including abortion, are fundamental to women’s health and well being, as well as women’s economic security. Politicians cannot say they are supporting women's health and rights unless that includes the ability for women to make decisions about their own body, and what’s best for their families.

“One in three women in America have had an abortion. The vast majority of people in this country support a woman's right to safe, legal abortion. In fact, support for Roe v. Wade is at a record high of 70%, the highest it's been since the case was decided more than 40 years ago. As a result, any party or any candidate that takes a stance against abortion rights is extreme.

“Women are leading the grassroots activism we’ve seen across the country these past several months. They are marching in the streets, flooding town halls, and calling their members of Congress. They know speaking up and speaking out can change the direction of this government. Politicians would do well to listen to the scores of women and men organizing in support of women’s health.
