Palin to Dobson: McCain Supports GOP Platform on Abortion
Washington, DC — In an interview with conservative radio host Dr. James Dobson, Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin confirmed what the Planned Parenthood Action Fund has known all along: John McCain is out of touch when it comes to a woman’s right to choose. Palin told Dobson that, based on private conversations with McCain, she believes he fully supports and would work to implement the GOP platform, including the provision to seek a constitutional amendment to ban all abortions even in cases of rape and incest.
James Dobson: "In your private conversations with Senator McCain is it your impression that he also strongly supports those views? I know that he did not oppose that platform when it was written. Do you think he will implement it?"
Sarah Palin: "I do, from the bottom of my heart. I am such a strong believer that McCain believes in those strong planks and we do have good conversations about some of the details too, about the different planks and what they represent."
“The McCain-Palin ticket is dangerously out of touch when it comes to women’s rights and women’s health care,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “On top of his 125 votes against women’s health, John McCain’s stated intent to implement the extreme provisions of the GOP platform is just one more example that he is out of touch when it comes to women’s health and women’s rights.”
Polls continually show that the majority of Americans support a woman’s right to choose.
