Planned Parenthood Action Fund released the following statement calling the U.S. House of Representatives vote on the H.R.7, titled the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act," a thinly veiled attempt to eliminate abortion access and undermine a woman’s ability to make personal decisions about her own health care.

As the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to vote tomorrow on a national abortion ban that would outlaw abortion at 20 weeks, a diverse group of faith leaders released a statement opposing the bill and other attacks on access to safe and legal abortion, emphasizing that a woman should never feel ashamed or judged when making the deeply personal and often complex decision about whether to choose adoption, end a pregnancy, or raise a child.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, in a 3-0 decision, has permanently blocked a 2011 North Carolina law that would force women to undergo a narrated ultrasound before receiving an abortion, noting that the “the state cannot commandeer the doctor-patient relationship to compel a physician to express its preference to the patient.”
