Welcome to “The Quickie” — Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s daily tipsheet on the top health care & reproductive rights stories of the day.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND PRESIDENT ALEXIS MCGILL JOHNSON JOINS JOHN FETTERMAN FOR ABORTION RIGHTS RALLY: Yesterday, Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Alexis McGill Johnson and Dayle Steinberg, a member of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates and PAC’s Board of Directors, joined John Fetterman and thousands of supporters in the Keystone State, calling for Pennsylvianians to elect him to the U.S. Senate and take action in support of abortion rights.

During the rally, they highlighted exactly what is at stake in this Senate race, calling attention to Mehmet Oz’s extreme views on abortion.

"Despite the oath he took as a doctor to do no harm, Dr. Oz wants to let extremists criminalize abortion with no exceptions, jeopardizing the lives of millions of women and pregnant people and criminalizing providers," said Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

WHY GOP MIDTERM CANDIDATES ARE NOW HIDING THEIR EXTREME ABORTION VIEWS: In a new explainer video for NowThis, Jenny Lawson, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Votes calls out Republican midterm candidates for not being truthful about their stance on abortion, including Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters, and Gubenatorial candidates Scott Jensen (Minnesota) and Christine Drazan (Oregon).

Lawson explained why it is so important to call these candidates out on their desperate attempts to rewrite history:

“The fact that they’re backtracking is one of the clearest signs of how much the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade is scrambling the political landscape and energizing voters to turn out at higher-than-expected rates…Let me be clear. [These GOP nominees] are not regretting their stance. They’re regretting that they made a public stance and that they are saying these things out loud and voters are responding poorly."
