Resigned: 6-1-2019Who is Katy Talento?
Katy Talento has a long history of spreading falsehoods about reproductive health — and using that misinformation to bolster arguments for taking away people’s access to birth control and abortion. As a key health policy advisor to President Trump, Talento was responsible for spearheading health care legislation that will impact millions of people for years to come. She left the administration in June 2019.

The Domestic Policy Council (DPC) is the principal resource relied upon by the president of the United States for advice on domestic policy matters, including health care policy.
Background on Katy Talento
Katy Talento co-wrote the Trump-Pence administration's proposal to eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s birth control provision and take no-cost birth control coverage away from more than 62 million women. In fact, she and HHS’s Matthew Bowman were called the “architects of the Trump contraceptive reversal.”
New York TimesKaty Talento has promoted the inaccurate notion that birth control causes abortion, miscarriage, and cancer — all scientifically untrue.
Health.comKaty Talento wrote that birth control entitles men to "consequence-free orgasms" that cause them to lose interest in marriage and "abandon" women and children.
The FederalistKaty Talento said proposing to “defund” Planned Parenthood in Trump’s 2018 budget was “not reducing funding for women’s health care by one penny” — ignoring how one in five American women has visited Planned Parenthood for health care, and how the rest of Trump’s budget made heavy cuts to many other programs that benefit women.
Planned Parenthood Action: Trump AppointeesKaty Talento was part of a proposal to slash funding for common birth control methods and promote federally funded programs on “fertility awareness” (aka the rhythm method). Such a move would take away women’s freedom to choose the method that works best for them.
Crooked MediaKaty Talento claimed birth control causes infertility, despite clear evidence that the pill is safe and has no connection to infertility.
Self MagazineBefore advising President Trump on health care policy in the White House, Katy Talento did so as part of the Trump-Pence 2016 election campaign. Before that, Talento worked for fierce abortion opponents Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and current U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback.
