PLANNED PARENTHOOD VOTES STATEMENT ON IOWA CAUCUS RESULTS
For Immediate Release: Jan. 15, 2024
Des Moines, IA — Tonight, Planned Parenthood Votes released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s victory in the Iowa Caucus.
Statement from Shwetika Baijal, spokesperson, Planned Parenthood Votes
“Donald Trump brags about overturning Roe v. Wade, but every day, we witness the chaos and cruelty caused by the Supreme Court decision that took away our federal right to abortion. Right now, 21 states have banned all or some abortions, meaning that over 1 in 3 women — plus more trans and nonbinary people — don't have the freedom to control their bodies. We already know how disastrous another Trump presidency will be. If given the chance, Donald Trump will sign a national abortion ban because he cares about winning political fights and pleasing his supporters, not about standing up for our freedoms. As he inches closer to securing the Republican presidential nomination, Planned Parenthood Votes is committed to ensuring that voters understand the danger he poses to our reproductive freedom and fundamental rights.”
