MONTANA — Since losing the federal right to abortion, Montanans have been fighting on all fronts to protect their reproductive freedom. This November, Montanans will vote in critical races for U.S. Senate, governor, and the state Supreme Court that will determine the future of abortion access for the state. In response to the GOP primary results, Quinn Leighton, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Votes in Montana released the following statement:

“With a national abortion ban looming and Montanans’ rights yet to be secured, we cannot afford to elect politicians like Tim Sheehy and Greg Gianforte. They are already scheming to eliminate access to reproductive health care at the state and federal levels, and they will stop at nothing to keep Montanans from controlling their own futures. They’re banking on Montanans believing their lies — but we know better. When Montanans decide, reproductive freedom wins. Planned Parenthood Votes will do everything we can to empower Montana voters to elect leaders that will protect our rights this November.”

From the U.S. Senate to the Montana Supreme Court, Montanans have the choice between champions for reproductive freedom and politicians who are hellbent on taking away our rights.

U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy is endorsed by SBA Pro-Life America — which requires candidates to support a national abortion ban — and has refused to pledge his support for federal IVF protections.

Gov. Greg Gianforte has spent his time in office signing a dozen abortion restrictions, including several bans, and asking the state Supreme Court to undo protections for abortion rights against the will of Montana voters.

And several seats on the Montana Supreme Court — the only safeguard for abortion rights in the Republican-controlled government — are up for grabs. These races are a top priority because without fair courts, reproductive freedom could become a thing of the past for Montanans.
