Statement of Laura Goodhue, Executive Director of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates:

“Last night, Florida’s abortion rights movement made clear we won’t back down from those who seek to rob Floridians of the freedom to control our bodies and our futures.

“We gratefully acknowledge the tireless efforts of everyone who has fought back against this outrageous attack on our freedom and bodily autonomy including: Women’s Voices of Southwest Florida, The Floridians for Reproductive Freedom Coalition, League of Women Voters of Florida, Florida National Organization for Women, Bans off Miami, Progress Florida, and so many others.

“We stand in solidarity with the activists who were arrested last night during a peaceful protest. Every Floridian owes a debt of gratitude to these passionate freedom fighters.

“Our movement is more unified and, in the aftermath of last night’s arrest of peaceful protestors, more determined than ever. Planned Parenthood has never shied away from a fight, and with leaders like Chair Fried and Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book focused on building the infrastructure to defend reproductive freedom in our state, we aren’t going anywhere.”
