West Palm Beach – This morning, the US Supreme Court issued two rulings on Texas’ SB 8 abortion ban bill. Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates Executive Director, Laura Goodhue, issued the following statement in response:

“Our highest court’s ruling this morning that Texas’ unconstitutional abortion ban will remain in effect, allowing  politicians and vigilantes, not patients and doctors, to decide the fate of women and families in that state is a travesty of justice.

“Here in Florida, Planned Parenthood will continue to do everything we can to help patients from Texas access safe and legal abortion care. Planned Parenthood health centers will continue to extend hours and provide support in every way they can to offset this attack on the freedoms of every Texan.

“At the same time, we are facing a threat to abortion access here in Florida as we near the start of our legislative session in January.

“Every person must be able to make decisions about their own bodies, their lives and their futures. We will not stand by while politicians try to take away our reproductive freedom. This is a once in a generation crisis and we must fight to protect our right to control our life’s path.”
