Bathroom Access Campaign

Free Menstrual Product Program

San Diego County is expanding its free menstrual products program to meet increased demand.

In partnership with Youth Will, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest provided critical input into the development and implementation of the program that launched last May as a pilot program. Free 4 Menstrual Equity (Free4ME) provides pads and tampons in dispensers installed in 24 county-owned facilities, including community centers and libraries. Since then, Free4ME has provided more than 141,000 menstrual hygiene products and the county is planning on installing more dispensers soon.

Declaring San Diego as a Safe City for Reproductive Freedom

On May 24, the San Diego City Council passed a resolution declaring San Diego a safe city for reproductive freedom and access to abortion, becoming one of the first cities in the nation to do so. Also on May 24, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 in support of efforts to solidify the right to reproductive freedom in California’s constitution.
