At a time when abortion rights are under attack, California can and must be a leader on abortion access. Right now, most university health centers provide quality health care at low or no cost to students. But campus clinics in the state don’t provide abortion care, and many don’t have an abortion provider close by. For students, it can be hard to raise the money or find transportation to access this care.

That’s why our local Planned Parenthood Generation Action chapters supported the College Student Right to Access Act (SB 24), which will make sure California’s university students have access to the abortion pill on their campus. The abortion pill is safe, effective care that can – and should – be offered at every California university health center.

We applaud the efforts our collegiate activists have made to ensure that reproductive health services are available to all students who need them, wherever they live or go to school.
