Don't stand by while the Supreme Court decides on abortion!

While the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments last week in the bogus case against the safe and effective medication abortion drug mifepristone, more than 2,500 demonstrators rallied at the court to protect the abortion rights. And this fight continues. Now, we are looking ahead to the emergency medical treatment case coming before the court on April 24, and to the court decisions expected in June.

These baseless cases are a contrived and politically motivated effort by anti-abortion activists to encroach ever further into the private decisions of patients and their health care providers. We’re calling on supporters to remain actively engaged in the ongoing fight against the politicians and activist judges who ignore precedent and basic human rights to further anti-abortion agendas.

Here’s how you can stay involved:

1. Sign our petition to demand court reform now.

Anti-abortion extremists have spent decades packing federal courts with regressive judges bent on spending the entirety of their lifetime appointments stripping away our rights. Sign this petition to urgently demand court reform.

2. Marylanders: Stay up to date with the ballot measure to codify abortion access in the Maryland Constitution.

In November, Maryland voters will have the opportunity to vote for a ballot measure that would secure the strongest-possible state-level protection of abortion access. Learn about this ballot measure and register to vote.

3. Advocate for DC statehood, whether or not you’re a DC resident statehood is a reproductive rights issue.

Under the Dornan Amendment, Congress actively prevents DC from spending local Medicaid dollars on abortion care. Medicaid is funded by your tax dollars, but as long as DC lacks statehood, there’s little to be done about congressional overreach into the medical decisions of District residents. Learn more about the intersection between DC statehood and reproductive justice. (And DC residents can register to vote today.)

4. Virginians: Vote for candidates who will help keep abortion bans off the governor’s desk.

A vehement anti-abortion extremist, Governor Glen Youngkin is eager for any opportunity to strip away the reproductive freedom of women and all people who can become pregnant. Virginia’s General Assembly serves as the last line of defense preventing anti-abortion bills from reaching Youngkin. If you’re a Virginia resident, register to vote so you can help keep champions of reproductive freedom in power.

5. Support PPADMV’s advocacy.

Your friends and advocates at PPADMV will have your back — today, tomorrow, and long after the conclusion of the mifepristone case. You can support our fight for reproductive justice by donating, volunteering, or sharing your own story with us today

As we await the court’s ruling in the medication abortion case and look ahead to the emergency medical treatment case coming before the court on April 24, PPADMV will continue to keep you in the loop with updates and opportunities for action.
