Statement from Erin Davison-Rippey, State Executive Director-Iowa, on Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s endorsement of Vice President Joe Biden for President of the United States

Des Moines, Iowa – “Vice President Joe Biden is the best choice for Iowa and our country. Thanks to his leadership, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has helped millions of Americans by prohibiting insurance companies from charging women more for their coverage and from discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community. The ACA also expanded Medicaid for the lowest-income Americans and created free coverage for crucial services like birth control and mammograms.  He had a 100% voting record from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund when he left the Senate and he remains committed to sexual and reproductive health care, including safe, legal abortion.  And he has spoken clearly against the racism and police brutality that plague our nation and threaten the health of our communities.

In stark contrast, President Trump has intentionally attacked sexual and reproductive freedom and health care across our country during these past four years.  He has stacked the federal bench with unqualified extremists and his administration has continued to stoke fear by attacking immigrant families, communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities.  These policies and rhetoric have been devastating for our nation’s health and our freedom.

The choice is clear.  We are thrilled that the Planned Parenthood Action Fund has endorsed Joe Biden for president.”
