Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Statement on Mississippi Asking SCOTUS to Overturn Roe v Wade

SACRAMENTO -- Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) released the following statement from President/CEO Jodi Hicks in response to the state of Mississippi explicitly asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade in its brief submitted as part of the Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization case being heard next term.

“Today, Mississippi said the ‘quiet part’ out loud,” said Jodi Hicks, President/CEO of PPAC. “The one time I wish we weren’t right, and didn’t have to say ‘I told you so,’ but this was always their end game: to have the court overrule 50 years of precedent and allow states to ban abortion.”

“To our affiliates, supporters, patients know this: we will not go back,” said Hicks. “We will continue to protect, expand and provide access to abortion, and will continue to work with providers and patients across the country to support their efforts to protect the right for everyone to make their own decisions about their health and their future.”
