SACRAMENTO—Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) released the following statement from President and CEO Jodi Hicks on Governor Newsom’s proposed budget:

“Planned Parenthood thanks Governor Newsom for his continued commitment to reproductive health care in his proposed budget. Maintaining and pursuing new investments is critical in the pursuit of accessibility and equity for California patients and those forced to seek care here. We are pleased to see that the budget builds on the investments of last year and includes $200 million ($15 million General Fund) in 2024-25 through a 1115 federal waiver grant program focused on supporting access to family planning & related services, system transformation, capacity, & sustainability of California’s safety net.

“Planned Parenthood also joins fellow provider organizations in wanting to see the Medi-Cal program improved to better serve the people who need it. We look forward to working collectively with other providers and the legislature to ensure health care dollars are directed to improve equity and accessibility where it is needed the most.”
