SACRAMENTO – Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) announces Shelby McMichael has joined the organization as the new Communications Manager.

“We are excited to have Shelby join the communications and campaigns team as we continue to advocate for reproductive freedom in California and beyond,” said Jodi Hicks, CEO/President of PPAC. “Shelby’s communication experience will be valuable to PPAC’s ongoing work, especially in a critical election year, to deliver comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care information and resources– including abortion stories and inclusive, medically-accurate education– to patients, supporters, policymakers, and more.”

Shelby joins PPAC from the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom, where she served in the Office of the First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom as Senior Digital Communications Manager. In this role, she managed the First Partner’s digital communication across multiple platforms and helped to advance her gender equity and child well-being initiatives. Prior to her tenure in the Newsom Administration, Shelby led communications at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Director’s Office of Sustainability. Shelby is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and a Southern California native. She will be located in Sacramento.

Shelby McMichael can be contacted at [email protected].
