PPAC Endorses Props 3 and 35, Neutral on Others
SACRAMENTO – Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) announces its positions on statewide ballot measures for the November 5 election.
PPAC has endorsed the following for a YES vote:
- Proposition 3: Proposition 3 enshrines the freedom of every Californian to marry in the state constitution. Prop 3 removes discriminatory language from the California Constitution that states marriage is only between a man and a woman. Instead, Prop 3 says that every Californian, regardless of race or gender, has the right to marry the person they love. Prop 3 reinforces California’s commitment to civil rights and protects the freedom to marry for future generations.
- Proposition 35: Proposition 35 provides dedicated funding to improve our state’s health care system for all patients in California, including nearly 15 million Medi-Cal patients. Prop 35 will address our most urgent health care priorities by securing dedicated, ongoing funding – without raising taxes on individuals – to protect and expand access to care, including funding for community health care providers, like Planned Parenthood, who predominantly serve low-income Californians on Medi-Cal.
Statement from Jodi Hicks, President/CEO of PPAC on the endorsements:
“The two ballot measures we have endorsed are critical, priority efforts that align with the values and mission of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, along with our seven affiliates across the state, are committed to seeing these two measures pass this November in the pursuit of protecting fundamental freedoms and more equitable health care access for all.”
PPAC has a neutral position on the other propositions appearing on the ballot:
- Prop 2
- Prop 4
- Prop 5
- Prop 6
- Prop 32
- Prop 33
- Prop 34
- Prop 36
