SACRAMENTO  — On Wednesday, January 6, a Trump-backed mob of white supremacists stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. in an attempted coup incited by the president. Consequently, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California supports today’s  House of Representatives’ vote to impeach President Trump, and encourages the Senate to quickly remove the president and hold all those who instigated, supported, or participated in the violence accountable.

Statement from Jodi Hicks, President and CEO, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California:

“Last week’s attack on the U.S. Capitol was white supremacy in action – insurrectionists assaulted our democracy and violently ransacked the Senate and House of Representatives, resulting in several deaths. And they did it at the urging and encouragement of the president of the United States and members of Congress. We stand firm in demanding those who participated or instigated violence be held accountable, and call on the Senate to act swiftly in removing President Trump from office.”
