Planned Parenthood President Congratulates Martin Jenkins on Nomination to California Supreme Court

CALIFORNIA – Jodi Hicks, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, issued the following statement in support of Governor Newsom’s selection of Justice Martin Jenkins (Ret.) to serve on the California Supreme Court. Jenkins would be the first openly gay California Supreme Court justice and only the third African American man ever to serve on the state’s highest court.

“Planned Parenthood of California congratulates Justice Martin Jenkins on his nomination to the California Supreme Court. Justice Jenkins’ long history of empowering underrepresented communities and fighting for equality is exactly the kind of jurist we need on California’s highest court. As the future of the U.S. Supreme Court hangs in the balance, it’s more important than ever that California continue to value and prioritize equity and diversity within the judicial system.”
