Who We Are

Planned Parenthood Florida Action is the nonpartisan advocacy and political organization representing Florida’s Planned Parenthood Affiliate. Planned Parenthood Florida Action engages in educational and legislative advocacy, voter education, and grassroots organizing to promote the Planned Parenthood mission.

Planned Parenthood’s experience in providing community-based health care for more than 100 years informs our advocacy efforts. These efforts include advocating for changes in public policy, with a sharp focus on ensuring access to comprehensive, affordable reproductive health care for all. In partnership with more than one million activists, supporters, and donors in the state, Planned Parenthood Florida Action advocates for health care access, promotes effective education and prevention policies, protects the reproductive rights of Floridians, and challenges government interference in the most personal decisions of women and their families.

Planned Checklist

CHOOSE AN EVENT TYPE & PICK A DATE
Consider what will work best for your audience and what you want to provide — happy hour, cocktail party, brunch, dinner, wine tasting, or another fun outing — it’s up to you!

SELECT A LOCATION
Pick somewhere comfortable — your home or a friend’s. Other options include public parks and small businesses where you might have a connection or can make a large reservation.

GUEST LIST & INVITATIONS
Build your invite list based on your location's capacity and the people in your social network. Reach out to your guests 4-8 weeks prior to your event with an invitation via email or hard copy. If it’s helpful, you may consider setting up a private Facebook event to share logistics, send reminders to your guests, and track your RSVPs!

MAKE AN EVENT TIMELINE
When do you anticipate doing specific activities? Making a timeline will help you stay on track.

CONNECT WITH STAFF
Connect with Planned Parenthood staff (contact information is on the back of this kit) to answer any questions or for tips on planning your event. Ask about whether a PP staff person can speak at the event. Let us know if you need any branded materials or swag to give out.

GET YOUR CONFIRMATIONS
Confirm with your guests a few days before the event to ensure they know the date and time, and send directions, parking instructions, and any other important details.

Details to Consider

SHARE YOUR STORY
Sharing your story is a meaningful way to connect and engage with your guests. Tell the story of how you became involved with Planned Parenthood and why you support the mission to get their support.

ASK FOR SUPPORT/EDUCATE
Will you charge guests a suggested donation to attend? Are you going to make a monetary ask?

Or will you engage your guests with a call to action, such as volunteering? Do you need our staff support for an online donation page for your event, or would you prefer donation/volunteer paper slips? Consider using statistics or educational materials on reproductive health care. See the Resource page on the back of this toolkit for access to helpful information.

SWAG & SUPPLIES
Do you want Planned Parenthood pens or educational materials to hand out? We can provide printed materials such as donor reports, newsletters, donation slips, and merchandise items, such as shirts and canvas bags. Additionally, consider the food and beverage options you will serve your guests, as well as any other event must-haves, such as a sign-in sheet or name tags.

FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR GUESTS
Thank your guests after the event! This can be an email, phone call — whatever you prefer. Offer

links or resources to volunteer, subscribe to PPFLA emails, host an event like yours, or donate to PPFLA. Connect with your Planned Parenthood rep and send any photos you took — give them a wrap-up of how it went and anything you learned or would change.
