CONCORD, NH – Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) announced today that for the second year in a row it has been named a 2022 Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey. PPNNE partners with Press Ganey to measure patient satisfaction through after-visit surveys. Annually, Press Ganey ranks the top hospitals and health systems across the country and recognized PPNNE for their outstanding performance in the category of patient experience.

As a winner of the Press Ganey Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award®, PPNNE is in the top 5 percent for patient experience out of more than 41,000 health care facilities that Press Ganey evaluates. PPNNE is the only Planned Parenthood affiliate across the country to be recognized in this category and is just one of three health care providers of any kind to be recognized from Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont.

In 2022, the same period this award reflects, PPNNE experienced unprecedented patient call volume and appointment requests when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Appointments for long-acting reversible contraception like IUDs and implants increased by 60%, and appointments for vasectomy services doubled. Patients from states where abortion was banned or deeply restricted booked appointments with PPNNE, including from the states of Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, South Dakota, and Texas.

Statement from Judith Selzer, president and CEO, PPNNE

“This award is incredible if you think about the year that our organization and our movement endured. In the face of so much adversity, our staff never lost sight of our North Star, which is providing the highest quality sexual and reproductive health care to everyone who walks through our doors, no matter what. This award symbolizes that our dedicated and compassionate staff were a light in the darkness for the more than 36,000 patients who came to us for care last year and I couldn’t be prouder to call them my teammates.”

Statement from PPNNE patient

Planned Parenthood fulfilled my expectations in all the right ways. I had been struggling with other doctor's offices, but when I came to PPNNE, they listened to all my questions and told me every step of choosing a new birth control method. They were the kindest and most helpful staff I have ever met. From now on, I won't go anywhere else!”

Statement from Patrick T. Ryan, chairman and CEO, Press Ganey

“By putting their patients and workforce first each and every day, PPNNE is demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their employees and to the communities they serve. The caregivers at PPNNE have inspired us with the compassion, empathy, and human connection they bring to the clinical health care setting. We are honored to partner with them as we celebrate their achievement.”
