In response to Gov. Sununu’s statement regarding his uncertainties about the effect federal changes to the Title X family planning program will have on New Hampshire patients, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) released the following statement:

Statement from Sabrina Dunlap, Vice President of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, NH:

“On May 3, the Trump-Pence administration’s domestic gag rule will go into effect, dismantling the Title X network here in New Hampshire, including for the state’s five Planned Parenthood of Northern New England health centers. Health care will be put at risk for more than 16,000 patients who rely on this program to access essential services, including birth control, STD testing and treatment, and cancer screenings. This rule will strip away nearly $2 million in family planning dollars statewide, including $1.6 million for PPNNE.

On its face this rule is illegal and unethical – it forces doctors to withhold information from their patients. That’s why Planned Parenthood and the American Medical Association joined 21 state attorneys general in suing the Trump-Pence administration over this illegal rule. We urge Gov. Sununu to stand up to the Trump-Pence administration’s dangerous gag rule so that Title X patients can continue to access essential health care.”
