CONCORD -- More than 100 Planned Parenthood supporters gathered at Liars Bench Beer Co in Portsmouth last Wednesday for the second annual Pink Pageant Drag Show Fundraiser. The event was at capacity, showing the strength of Planned Parenthood supporters on the Seacoast.

All proceeds from each donation and $1 from each beer went to PPNNE’s Trans Care Fund, which provides high-quality, non-judgmental care to transgender and gender non-conforming patients, regardless of ability to pay. Funds raised went to directly support trans care patients, including those who have lower incomes or are uninsured. Trans care services are available at all five of PPNNE’s New Hampshire health centers, including the Exeter Health Center.

Statement from Alyssa Antman, Organizing Manager for Planned Parenthood NH Action Fund:

“Despite recent attacks on Granite Staters’ reproductive rights, including Gov. Chris Sununu’s abortion ban, community support for Planned Parenthood is clear. Supporters all over the state are fired up and ready to fight back, organize, fundraise, and make it clear that these attacks on our reproductive freedoms are dangerous and deeply unpopular. The New Hampshire Seacoast stands with Planned Parenthood.”

Supporters filled Liars Bench Beer Co’s outdoor beer garden while four of the region’s top drag performers -- Raya Sunshine, Seth Thorne, Garbáge, and Papa Squat -- dazzled with humor and dance. Host Chartreuse Money engaged the audience with her wit and fierce dance moves and Portsmouth-based DJ Skooch kept the beats going all night.

Following a powerful performance to “No Scrubs” by TLC and “Every Woman” by Chaka Khan, Garbáge, from Portsmouth, was crowned Planned Parenthood Royalty.

Some New Hampshire politicians are doing everything they can to put up roadblocks to the care that PPNNE provides, including some members of Gov. Sununu’s Executive Council. But it’s clear that the Seacoast community stands with Planned Parenthood and will continue to advocate for the high-quality, affordable services Granite State PPNNE patients rely on.
