Where are ballot drop off locations?

What polling places will be open and which ones will be closed?

There will be nine (9) locations called Voter Assistance Centers that will be open for four days, October 31st through November 3rd.  At the Center, voters can:
-Turn in a Vote by Mail ballot
-Vote a precinct ballot or vote on an accessible voting machine

  • Get a replacement ballot

  • Register or update registration

  • Get voting materials in Spanish or Hmong

  • If you chose to vote in-person, bring your Vote by Mail Ballot to surrender so you can vote a precinct ballot.  Be prepared, lines may be long!

We have 9 confirmed locations at this time, including CSU Chico Campus as well as Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. They will be open all 4 days (10/31 through 11/3). Also, all of them are located on at least one public transportation route.

Where are ballot drop off locations?

All Voters in Shasta County will be issued a Vote by Mail Ballot.
Expect your Vote by Mail ballot in the mail the first week of October.
Ballots can be returned by mail, at an official dropbox location, at the Elections Department, or at a polling place on Election Day.
In person voting at polling places will still take place, but is redesigned to follow Federal and State guidelines of social distancing and sanitation.
If you plan to vote at the polling place on Election Day take your Vote by Mail ballot with you to the polls.

You have a couple of options:

1). before Election Day, call the Registrar of Voters Office and inform the staff person that you lost your ballot; staff will inform you of your options to obtain a second Vote by Mail ballot (which may include issuing you a second Vote by Mail ballot if there is sufficient time before the election.

2) if it is Election Day, you can go to your assigned polling place and vote a provisional ballot OR go to the Registrar of Voters Office and inform the staff person that you lost your ballot; staff will issue you a second Vote by Mail ballot. Whenever a second ballot is issued, the first ballot is voided so it can not be counted if both are returned.
