Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates Endorses Marilyn Lands for Alabama State House District 10

HUNTSVILLE, AL – In the aftermath of the controversial IVF ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates proudly announces its first endorsement of the 2024 election cycle: Marilyn Lands for Alabama State House District 10. Lands, a staunch pro-choice candidate with a compelling personal story on abortion, has the backing needed to secure victory.

"Marilyn Lands understands what it will take to move Alabama forward. Her personal story and strong commitment to ethical values make her an excellent choice to represent this district at the State House in Montgomery. Voters can be confident that she will serve their interests while fighting hard to protect their access to health care and reproductive rights. We look forward to her energetic campaign and victory in this Special Election on March 26th,” said Director of Planned Parenthood Alabama, Stephen Stetson.

Lands, a devoted advocate for pro-choice values, aligns with Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates' mission to ensure reproductive rights and healthcare access. Districtwide polling reveals strong support for Lands, with Planned Parenthood enjoying a +17 net favorable rating (55% fav / 38% unfavorability) in the area.

"Pro-choice values matter in this race," notes Stetson. "Driving a strong, clear contrast on abortion rights is key to Lands’ path to victory and has become increasingly clear in the wake of Alabama’s Supreme Court ruling on stored embryos as children, causing chaos and confusion for women and men family planning in our state."

Marilyn Lands stands firmly for a woman's freedom to make her own healthcare decisions without interference from politicians. She is committed to fighting for the repeal of Alabama's abortion ban and prioritizing freedom and healthcare.

"Alabama’s no-exceptions abortion ban is putting women’s lives in danger. This ban and the recent IVF ruling are making Alabama a difficult place to start a family. I am proud to have the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates, and I look forward to our collective action in the days ahead to March 26th," says candidate for State House District 10, Marilyn Lands.

Lands' policy stance include:

- Repealing Alabama’s no-exceptions abortion ban.

- Expanding Medicaid to bring millions of dollars into Alabama’s economy and provide working families with more healthcare options.

- Investing in community mental health resources, drawing on Marilyn's background in community mental health to address disparities in coverage and improve outcomes in Alabama's healthcare system.
