Planned Parenthood Statement on Defeat of Proposed Abortion Ban
For Immediate Release: Nov. 3, 2020 (Updated: Nov. 3, 2020, 8:53 p.m.)
DENVER, CO - The following statement was released today, November 3rd, and is attributed to Vicki Cowart, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Action Fund (PPRMAF):
"Today, we can proudly confirm that Colorado remains a safe haven for access to the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion care. Once again, Colorado voters confirmed what we have always known: that health care decisions belong between a patient and their health care provider, without political interference.
“Every day, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) trusts and empowers patients to make the health care decisions that are best for them. PPRM proudly serves patients across Colorado and our surrounding region, as well as those who travel long distances to access care unavailable to them in their home communities because of politically motivated bans and restrictions. As we continue to navigate the COVID pandemic, it is clear our communities need improved access to high-quality health care, not more restrictions. And Colorado voters agreed.
“Tonight, we celebrate this win. Tomorrow, our work to protect our rights continues. Reproductive rights face new threats at the national level, with the new makeup of the Supreme Court and other states restricting access to care. Now more than ever, Colorado must remain a safe haven for access for anyone who needs it."
