PLANNED PARENTHOOD VOTES COLORADO ENDORSES FIVE WOMEN LEADERS

FOR STATE SENATE

#trustwomenelectwomen

DENVER, CO– Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado (PPVC) is thrilled to announce endorsements of five candidates for the Colorado state Senate: Jessie Danielson for SD 20, Kerry Donovan for SD 5, Brittany Pettersen for SD 22, Tammy Story for SD 16, and Faith Winter for SD 24. The pattern here is clear and groundbreaking: These five powerful women will be true champions for women’s reproductive health and rights under the gold dome.

“Each of these exceptional candidates will stand up for women and families across our state. PPVC endorses and works to elect candidates who trust women to make their own health care decisions, including decisions about abortion, and these candidates exemplify those values. We are excited to see these women take Colorado into the future,” said Sarah Taylor-Nanista, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado.

"Living in a non-metro area can bring with it many challenges, one of them being access to health care,” said Sen. Kerry Donovan. “The Planned Parenthood network sometimes provides the only health care many of my constituents see in a year. Reproductive health care is an important piece of the overall health of our friends and neighbors and I'm proud to work with Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado to ensure no matter your hometown you can live a healthy life.”

“I support and trust women,” said Rep. Faith Winter. “Health care decisions, especially in reproductive health care, should be made between women and their families. It is that simple.”

“Reproductive freedom is grounded in the privacy rights enshrined in our Constitution, and that has increased social and economic freedom for every woman in America,” said Rep. Jessie Danielson. “I will continue to fight in the Senate to ensure that a woman's personal healthcare decisions remain personal.”

“As radical Republicans across the US and here in Colorado continue to try to compromise access to women's health care, it is critical that we elect a pro-choice majority in Colorado,” said Rep. Brittany Pettersen. “I am proud to be supported by an organization that has always fought to ensure that woman can choose if and when they want to start a family. Planned Parenthood has stood up for me, and I will always stand with Planned Parenthood.”

"With conservatives in Colorado attacking women's rights to make their own personal, private medical decisions every day, I am committed to protecting every Coloradan's right to make their own health care decisions,” said Tammy Story. “I look forward to continuing that fight with Planned Parenthood."

In a time of persistent threats to women’s reproductive rights and access to care, these five candidates are sending a strong message to the citizens of Colorado that the right to decide when and whether to start a family, and the right to access the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health care, are not up for debate. PPVC is confident that they will represent the values of the people of Colorado in elected office.
