Endorsed candidates pledge to champion sexual and reproductive health and rights and fight to advance reproductive freedom for all people in Connecticut
(New Haven, CT) — Today, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut (PPV!CT) announced the list of endorsed candidates running for state office in the 2020 general election. These 115 candidates (29 in the Connecticut Senate and 86 in the Connecticut House of Representatives) support reproductive rights and access to sexual and reproductive health care.
“Connecticut has a long, proud reputation at the leading edge of defending access to sexual and reproductive health care and reproductive rights thanks to the dedication and commitment of our champions in the state legislature,” said Amanda Skinner, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut. “Over the last four years, we’ve seen the vital role states play in safeguarding our rights and our health care amplified in the face of cruel, relentless attacks by the federal government. We need these candidates at the State Capitol to protect the progress we’ve made and work towards achieving reproductive freedom for all.”
“Our endorsed candidates pledge to fight for Planned Parenthood, fight for our rights, and fight for access to sexual and reproductive health care,” said Danielle Eason, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut Board Chair. “In one of the most crucial elections of our lifetime, we must get out the vote and do everything we can to support and elect these champions in Connecticut.”
The Trump-Pence administration’s negligent mismanagement of COVID-19 pandemic has continued to worsen long-standing inequities and disparities in our health care system, making it harder for people to access the care they need and deserve. We need to elect champions who will address systemic barriers to health care access and work to build a more equitable Connecticut.
