(New Haven, CT) — Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut (PPV!CT) is proud to endorse Democrat Tammy Exum for State Representative, House District 19, during the special election to be held on April 16, 2019. Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut is committed to supporting and endorsing pro-reproductive rights, pro-family planning candidates for state office.

Exum has pledged to make reproductive health and rights a priority when elected. She supports policies that impact our patients and communities and that ensure equity and bodily autonomy for all Connecticut residents.

“Tammy Exum is committed to protecting and expanding access to reproductive health care services for the people of Connecticut,” said Susan Yolen, Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy with Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut. “Now more than ever, with reproductive rights under constant attack from the federal government, we need elected officials in our state to continue fighting for access to essential health care and family planning services.”

The House District 19 special election will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Exum, a longtime West Hartford resident, is a former member of the West Hartford Board of Education. The District 19 seat, which represents sections of West Hartford, Farmington, and Avon, became vacant after Derek Slap (D) was elected to the State Senate in the District 5 special election on February 26, 2019.
