Extreme anti-abortion politicians in the North Carolina General Assembly just passed Senate Bill 20, a sweeping bill that will ban abortion after 12 weeks in most cases. This omnibus bill also imposes other restrictions that will severely limit abortion access before 12 weeks for anyone in need of care in North Carolina, and aims to shut down abortion clinics in the state.

This is a dangerous ban that will lead to substandard health care, higher rates of maternal and infant mortality, and more people forced to carry a pregnancy and give birth against their will. This is our now-or-never moment. We will need you in the coming days to hold the line on access to abortion in North Carolina and across the South.

Call your representative to express your opposition to this extreme abortion ban.

Governor Cooper has already stated he plans to veto the bill. This fight is just getting started. The people of North Carolina need to rise up. We must not allow politicians in Raleigh to take away our right to control what happens to our bodies, our families, and our futures. We must make sure Governor Cooper's veto stands and prevent this dangerous ban from ever seeing the light of day.

What to Say (Call Script)

Hi, my name is __________, and I live in ___________.

I am calling to urge you to vote against Senate Bill 20 and sustain Governor Cooper’s veto. No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy against their will, and this legislation will have devastating effects on already marginalized communities. This bill will harm North Carolina families with higher rates of maternal and infant mortality. Abortion is health care, and the majority of North Carolinians support abortion access. Please vote against this harmful legislation.

Enter your phone number, address and zip code to be connected to your North Carolina House Representative. You’ll hear a message from us and then we’ll connect you. Tell the staff member who answers that you do not support Senate Bill 20, and encourage your legislator to sustain Governor Cooper’s veto. If you have a personal story, please share that too.
