West Virginia Legislative Updates
West Virginia's Legislative Session begins on January 11, 2023. Here, you will find both good and bad bills that we are watching closely and how you can take action.
House Bill 2002 – Providing more government support to anti-abortion centers
This bill would provide further government support to anti-abortion centers, sometimes known as "crisis pregnancy centers." These centers already receive state funding, but do not face any regulations and are not staffed by medical providers. The main goal of these centers is to manipulate people seeking abortion care.
Last action: Passed House Health and Human Resources Committee; Sent to House Finance Committee.
House Bill 2007 – Bans gender-affirming surgery for minors
This bill targets gender-affirming care by banning gender-affirming surgery for West Virginians under the age of 18. This is a direct attack on the transgender community.
Last action: Passed House Judiciary Committee; Sent to House floor.
