South Carolina lawmakers are working to pass a dangerous ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy — before many people know they are pregnant. Not only did the Senate double down on South Carolina's existing ban on abortion, but they also made it worse.
Under this new ban, survivors of sexual assault can only obtain an abortion if the physician reports the alleged rape to law enforcement and provides them with the patient’s name, contact information, and fetal DNA, regardless of the patient’s wishes.
This bill is now heading back to the State House where it could pass as early as next week.
We must flood the S.C. House with phone calls urging them to reject this abortion ban. Contact your State Representative NOW.
