Statement from Jenny Black, CEO, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic
“We are deeply disappointed by President Trump’s discriminatory attack against the transgender community today. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic stands with the patients we serve every day — including trans people and current and former servicemembers.
Planned Parenthood believes LGBTQ rights and reproductive rights are deeply connected to justice for all. We have long stood with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the struggle for full equality — many of whom turn to Planned Parenthood for health care, information, and education. The actions of this Administration have created a frighteningly more dangerous America for many marginalized groups, but we will not allow our country to be dragged backward into fear, discrimination, and hate.
Today, we reaffirm our commitment to building a world where no one experiences discrimination or violence because of their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. Planned Parenthood stands with the trans community today and everyday — no matter what.”
