Statement from Jenny Black, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, on today’s U.S. District Court ruling to issue a preliminary injunction on the SC DHHS effort to unlawfully ban Planned Parenthood South Atlantic from the state’s Medicaid program
“We are thrilled that today’s ruling grants immediate access to our patients who rely on Medicaid to seek care at their trusted health care provider. The health services Planned Parenthood South Atlantic provides are fundamental to the state’s health care safety net, and we look forward to continuing to provide a full range of life-saving preventive health care to anyone who walks through our doors, no matter their income or insurance status.
“Today’s ruling demonstrates that playing political games with the health and dignity of women and families should not have any place in the everyday lives of South Carolinians. Planned Parenthood is deeply committed to continuing to fight for the right to basic health care, and we are grateful to the Court for protecting our patient's access to care, just as we always have."
