October 17-18, 2022 from The State Capitol through Shelby Bottoms to my house
Following the spirited gathering at the State Capitol the previous day, my anticipation for the tranquil silent walking meditation, guided by Jennifer Wang of the Nashville People of Color Sangha, was palpable. Amy Ridings extended a gracious welcome, hosting a heartwarming breakfast for those of us who had journeyed from the State Capitol to her residence in the vicinity of Shelby Bottoms. Subsequently, we embarked on a serene pilgrimage from East Nashville to Hermitage, culminating in a warm reception at day's end, where my mother, Eleanor Aguihap Hunt, delighted us with a lovingly prepared Filipino feast.
As a practitioner of Eastern philosophy, utilizing the symbol for yoni or shakti was highly significant for me. I believe that we are walking bodies, walking for our bodies, walking on the sacred body of mother earth. Imbuing the land with the symbol of feminine generative power was a daily ritual that opened and closed our prayerful walk each day.
After such a long day’s walk, I was looking forward to the next rest day. I made a video clip for the Vanderbilt Medical Students for Choice during my walk the day before. Then, on my rest day, I talked with students at Planned Parenthood Vanderbilt Generation Action.
