What is Prop 50?

President Trump knows that because of his administrations’ deeply harmful and unpopular policies, Republicans are at risk of losing power in Congress when voters go to the ballot box next year to vote for their representatives.

That’s why he asked Texas to steal enough seats to maintain their power in Congress – and Republicans in the state readily complied.

To combat this power play, California is holding a Special Election with Prop 50 on the ballot.

Prop 50 would create a temporary plan to redraw congressional maps in California, determining how communities are represented in Congress. Prop 50 allows voters to fight back and ensure the 2026 midterm elections are fair and honest.

What does Prop 50 have to do with reproductive rights?

Voting YES on Prop 50 is a powerful way to fight for Planned Parenthood and strike back against President Trump and his dangerous agenda.

Just weeks ago, President Trump and his backers in Congress “defunded” Planned Parenthood health centers, including in California. The impacts of “defunding” Planned Parenthood health centers have been real and immediate. Already, 5 California communities have lost their local Planned Parenthood health centers.

If President Trump gets his way and Republicans get even more power in Congress, their attacks on Planned Parenthood, reproductive health care, and abortion will only get worse – disproportionately impacting women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people.

The Community Action Fund of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has never backed down from a fight, and we aren’t starting now. We have the power to fight back against Republicans’ unprecedented power grab and maintain a fair election, so we can elect a Congress that will protect our rights in 2026.

The fight to pass Prop 50 is a fight to protect Planned Parenthood and reproductive freedom in California.
