Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates calls for repeal of dangerous abortion restrictions in HB 1411
In response to the U.S. Supreme Court striking down Texas abortion restrictions on Monday, the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates today is calling for a repeal of HB 1411, the law threatening women’s access to safe and legal abortion.
Today, a Florida district court preliminarily blocked enforcement of a law that would have blocked access to birth control, cancer screenings, STI tests, and other preventive care at Planned Parenthood — making it the sixth law targeting reproductive health care to fall this week.
U.S. District Court in Tallahassee ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood affiliates’ call for a preliminary injunction of key provisions of HB 1411
Today the U.S. District Court in Tallahassee ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood affiliates’ call for a preliminary injunction of key provisions of HB 1411, the dangerous new state law that would have eliminated access to birth control, cancer screenings, STD tests and other care for thousands of patients at Planned Parenthood health centers in Florida.
“This is a landmark decision that sends a strong message that laws that restrict access to abortion under the guise of protecting women are unconstitutional,” said Lillian Tamayo, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida. “Here in Florida, women’s access to care is still very much under threat.”
“Anitere Flores has perhaps done more than anyone to make accessing reproductive health care difficult or impossible for the women in Florida who need it most.”
