2017 Election

The stakes have never been higher for New Jersey’s women, men, and families. Fortunately, this November New Jersey chose to elect a new leader who will stand up for reproductive health and work to ensure that women across New Jersey can access the care they need, when they need it. Congratulations to Governor-Elect Phil Murphy!

Phil Murphy has pledged to restore funding for family planning services – funding that will help address the alarming increases in STDs and cancer cases across New Jersey since Governor Christie first cut the funding in 2010. Murphy will be a strong leader for accessible birth control, ensuring that contraception remains available to New Jersey women with no out-of-pocket costs. Murphy’s Lieutenant Governor-Elect, Sheila Oliver, has consistently stood up to Governor Christie and voted to restore family planning funding – in fact, she maintains a 100 percent rating from Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey.

Murphy’s opponent, Kim Guadagno, stood by silently while Governor Christie reduced access to cancer screenings and STD testing for eight years. Guadagno claims to be “pro-choice” – yet she won’t commit to restoring funding for these lifesaving services. We are proud to have Phil Murphy as the new governor of NJ.
