We Need Our Legislators to Support Our Access to Health Care, Not Stand in the Way

Your representative supported a bill intended to shame patients seeking abortions and create additional barriers to care.

Current law mandates patients to disclose why they are having an abortion — and in 2018, Senate Bill (1394) went even further, requiring health care providers to inquire as to and include in reporting the reason a patient is seeking an abortion.

As researchers from the Guttmacher Institute have pointed out,

“opponents of abortion rights have seized on abortion reporting requirements as yet another way to subvert legitimate public health policy and advance their political agenda.”

Standing in the way of our health care access and requiring additional barriers to care is shameful — and Arizonans need to know that their leaders failed them.
