Why We Support Christina Hale:

Christina is a lifelong Hoosier, and is known for getting things done. As the second Latina ever elected to the Indiana General Assembly, she passed more than 60 bills —even as a member of the super-minority and with bipartisan support. We expect her to accomplish even more for Hoosier families once elected to Congress.

  • Will ensure access to affordable, quality health care by creating a public option.

  • Opposes allowing insurance companies the ability to deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions.

  • Supports cutting the cost of prescription drugs.

  • Understands why we must make investments in improving clean energy infrastructure; improving water infrastructure in Indiana to protect the White River and Eagle Creek Watershed.

  • Supports raising the minimum wage so that everyone can earn a living wage.

  • Will invest in public education.

We are proud to endorse Christina because she knows that health care is hard to access for too many Hoosiers. As a young, hardworking single mom, Christina knows what it is like to be one illness or injury away from bankruptcy and what the limitations of accessible care can cause for a family because of unaffordable insurance. Christina will fight to make sure every Hoosier has access to affordable quality health care no matter the person’s zip code, gender, race or religion.

As we lead the charge against attacks on health care access and reproductive rights, we know Christina will stand strong on important issues for Hoosier women and families.

Victoria Spartz (R) is bad for Indiana. She:

Believes that “government involvement is inherently bad and ineffective” except for when it comes to controlling Hoosier decisions around reproductive health and freedom:

  • Spartz opposes the right to an abortion, even in the case of rape or incest, and supports every single abortion restriction that activists have proposed.

  • She co-authored legislation with the purpose of making it harder to access abortion care in an effort to shame and stigmatize abortion and pregnancy loss.

  • She voted in favor of legislation banning the most common form of second-trimester abortion, the dilation and evacuation (D&E) procedure.

Spartz supports overturning the ACA and refuses to acknowledge and address public health crises in Indiana, including both the COVID crisis and Indiana’s high rates of maternal mortality. That’s because she has made a career out of attacking Hoosiers’ access to health care, safe and legal abortion, and our environment. Spartz is against common sense gun regulations, is against environmental protections for Hoosiers, and thinks systemic racism does not exist. It’s clear that Spartz isn’t with us - she is against us.

CD 5 needs real leadership who will tell us the truth, puts us before their political interests, and will work to expand access to health care. We won’t get that with Spartz, but we will with Christina Hale.
